MediaWorks website hacked, personal details of 2.5 million users for sale on dark web

MediaWorks hack news

A cybersecurity incident at MediaWorks has potentially compromised the personal data of 2.5 million New Zealanders.

The breach was announced on a dark web forum by an anonymous user claiming intentions to sell the stolen information, which includes names, addresses, birthdates, and contact details, along with more sensitive data like questionnaire responses and materials related to TV show The Block NZ.

MediaWorks told State-funded outlet RNZ that is discovered the breach last night.

The company confirmed the breach involved competition entry data from their website.

The company had moved to mitigate the breach by engaging external experts for investigation and securing current competition entries in a new database.

  1. Ahhh yes, the “dark web.”
It’s where “Q” anonymous posters (Q anons) got some of their best material.
It was a cool site with lots of pictures back in the day.

    • For media works to have that personal data wouldn’t those individuals have to have given it to media works in the first place? Are they seriously trying to say that half the population has engaged with questionnaires for their garbage TV programmes like The Block?

  2. Typical of a Time-Warner Company…gather viewer opinion that ask for personal details that can be used to round-up the ‘politically in-correct’ and low social credit score holders!
‘Leakage’ means the ops of passing on information to those globalists who will be coming after the above mentioned.
Building and reno shows, , baking shows, and re-run game shows that are 10 years old demonstrate the globalist attempts to keep everyone dumbed-down when they’re not on their iPhone, X-Box or having a smoko of the various brain-destroying drugs.
Keep doing the latter-that’s exactly what the globalist institutions want!
