More job cuts on the cards at Health NZ

Health NZ news

Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora is proposing to cut 44 roles, many of which were recently established, according to the Public Service Association (PSA).

The proposed cuts will affect teams in hospital and specialty services, including the roles of manager of Disabled Peoples Health, commissioning, director of Māori Health, and chief advisor of Māori Health.

The PSA told state media they were concerned by these cuts, saying they come amidst ongoing restructuring efforts that have already blindsided health workers and complicated their ability to deliver an effective health system.

PSA national secretary Kerry Davies said the latest restructuring proposal adds to the complexity of changes that have not yet been fully implemented.

Health Minister Shane Reti indicated that the organisation is facing a significant financial deficit and that new commissioner Lester Levy is tasked with achieving cost efficiencies, focusing on reducing bureaucracy in middle management. The PSA member facing job disestablishment for the second time this year told state media the proposal as baffling and expressed concern that the remaining teams, already stripped back, will struggle to maintain effectiveness in designing and implementing a ‘better health system’ for New Zealanders.

  1. Labour and now National, are busy merrily giving our hard earned taxpayer money to the Kiev regime….I’m sure its much more important than the health of the local tax cattle, right?

  2. NZ is a money laundering little country, like others we know about…. the Panama papers exposed this however John Key said nothing to see here, it’s all legal… yeah, because they set it up as law for the rich elite but if you or I were to do this with our tiny bits of dosh we’d be in jail for tax evasion…. One law for them another for us… always been that way… so now he is cutting down more staff, but which ones? Back room bureaucrats? I don’t mind that. What we need is more money in the right places, and I do not for one trust Reti… I wonder if he is one of the over 100+ doctors who had an exemption from taking the jab in this country… as stated by NZDSOS… who can give us that list please? We need it now…Our pay parity with Oz regards working front line staff of doctors, nurses etc… is abysmal… it must be sorted or folks, best learn how to use the bush and first aid to heal yourselves because soon, we will have no health care at all unless you can pay for it, again, the US model being implemented here as they are trying to do in the UK…by underfunding it… like everything else they privatised over the years, run into the ground on purpose then sell it to some rich overseas corporation who then can charge like wounded bulls… and make a killing while we lose out….
