New article exposes “tiny, noisy, taxpayer‑funded” lobby behind NZ gender definition backlash

NZ-based investigative reporter Penny Marie has released a new article, “The Tiny, Noisy, Taxpayer‑Funded Lobby Fighting NZ First’s Definitions Bill,” shining a light on who is really driving opposition to NZ First’s Legislation (Definitions of Woman and Man) Amendment Bill.

Her analysis argues that a small, tightly networked set of rainbow NGOs, youth providers and political actors – many with direct or indirect government and council funding – are fronting a national campaign against a bill that simply defines “woman” as an adult human biological female and “man” as an adult human biological male.

Penny contrasts this well‑resourced lobbying machine with official statistics showing that the “gender‑identity” cohort is a fraction of one percent of New Zealand’s adult population, far smaller than the “rainbow community” branding suggests.

The article also dissects the repeated talking points used by these groups, and explains how the vague phrase “gender identity” – drawn from the non-binding Yogyakarta Principles – is being pushed into law to compete with the existing, universal legal category of sex.

Penny also links this to a wider global activist network and urges New Zealanders to understand how international ideology, public money and local institutions are working together to keep sex blurred in law.

  1. The fake democracy uni-party leverages minorities to prevent the majority voices from being heard or being involved in decision making.
The fake democracy party political system is the mechanism used to lever the leverage.
The “sex” debate, apart from being a debate that should not be happening as the truth is patently obvious, is a good example of where direct democracy with the citizens voting directly on the issue via a referendum would decide the answer for the “debate”. It should not be a political issue, but it is under the fake democracy uni-party party political system.
