Police have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a 42-year-old woman in Ngāruawāhia this afternoon.
Around 1:30 PM, officers were alerted to reports of a fight involving multiple people on Waipa Esplanade, near the Newton Street intersection. Shortly afterward, a critically injured woman was brought to the ambulance station on Jordan Street. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the woman succumbed to her injuries before she could be airlifted to the hospital.
Investigations are underway at two key locations: Waipa Esplanade, where the woman is believed to have been injured, and Jordan Street, where she tragically passed away.
A significant Police presence remains in the area as inquiries continue. Officers are conducting reassurance patrols to support the local community during this unsettling time.
