Police updates on crimes and investigations for 18 September 2023.
Incident – Albany Bus Station
Police are advising the public to stay clear of the Albany Bus Station.
Emergency services are responding to an incident, which was reported at around 12.50pm.
Initial indications suggest two people have been injured.
One person is believed to be in a critical condition, and other person has received a minor injury.
At this stage, enquiries are ongoing to locate the person responsible.
‘We are asking the public to please follow instructions from emergency services and avoid the area where possible,’ said police in a statement.
Fatality – Papatoetoe
One person has died following a crash in Papatoetoe on Monday 4 September.
The crash occurred on Balance Avenue at around 10.13am.
Sadly one person has since died in hospital.
‘We extend our condolences to their family at this time,’ said police in a statement.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Canterbury Police search property in Burnham
This afternoon Canterbury Police executed a search warrant at an address in Burnham, following an incident this morning.
Two gang members arrived at Christchurch Hospital Emergency Department this morning with injuries consistent with an assault. The injuries are not reported to be serious.
The injured parties refused to provide any details about the assault. Police had reason to believe the assault occurred at the property in Burnham which was the subject of this afternoon’s search warrant.
Enquiries are ongoing.
