Police updates on crimes and investigations for Saturday 10 September 2022.

Arrests following Marlborough search warrants

Marlborough Police have arrested four people and disrupted a methamphetamine network after executing search warrants in Picton and Koromiko yesterday.

Police targeted three addresses, recovering methamphetamine, cannabis and stolen property, including electrical power tools.

Of the four people arrested and charged:

  • A 53-year-old Koromiko man faces 13 charges of supplying methamphetamine and five charges of conspiracy to deal methamphetamine;
  • A 56-year-old Koromiko woman faces 18 charges of supplying methamphetamine and two charges of conspiracy to deal methamphetamine;
  • A 37-year-old Picton man faces 10 charges of supplying methamphetamine;
  • A 26-year-old Picton man faces 13 charges of supplying methamphetamine.

They appeared in the Blenheim District Court yesterday.

‘Marlborough Police will continue to investigate and target drug dealers who peddle their misery into our community,’ said Detective Senior Sergeant Ciaran Sloan.

‘Police want to remind people that we rely on the public to help stamp out this offending, by supplying information to us to help form a picture of what’s happening in our communities.

‘You may feel like the information you have is not significant, however, it could be the missing piece of the puzzle Police need to put offenders before the court.

‘Information can be passed to Police via 105 by phone on online, or alternatively information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-nz.org.’

UPDATE – Fatal crash, SH 3, New Plymouth

Police are now in a position to confirm two people have died following a crash on SH 3, Tariki yesterday afternoon.

Police were notified of the crash around 2pm.

The two people were initially trapped and unresponsive and passed away at the scene.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
