Senior lawyer found guilty of misconduct for inappropriate Christmas party behaviour

Legal news

A senior lawyer, whose name remains suppressed, has been found guilty of misconduct by the Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal after making lewd comments and inappropriately touching junior staff at two Christmas parties while heavily intoxicated.

The tribunal condemned his actions as “deplorable” and “appalling,” saying that he abused his position of power and failed to recognise the power imbalance between himself and junior staff.

Despite describing his behaviour as a “joke gone too far” and claiming it was not intended to offend, the lawyer acknowledged his actions were unprofessional and discourteous.

Examples of the behaviour included:

  • Grabbed a junior colleague’s penis.
  • Made lewd comments about employees’ genitalia and sex lives.
  • Told a female intern she “must have been a fat b****” and made further derogatory remarks about her weight.
  • Claimed that another partner at the firm had “the tiniest penis ever.”
  • Spanked the same female intern with a piece of wood.
  • Danced in a sexualized manner.
  • Kissed the intern on the top of her head.

His argument that the misconduct occurred off the clock and should warrant a lesser charge was dismissed, as the tribunal deemed the events to be extensions of his professional environment. A penalty hearing will be scheduled soon.

  1. Ide be the first to say “get him because he’s a lawyer and should know better.” However being a man on the receiving end of a false allegation that went to trial and found not guilty within a few minutes. I know all too well that there is a strong driven leniency to believe any allegation made by a woman no matter how unlikely.

This woman must of seen the man as intoxicated. Must of seen him as not fully in control of his actions and emotions. That women who either regreted contact, banter, didn’t distance herself or forgot their contribution and encouragement on Monday morning seems to think its ok to wreck an entire life for her satisfaction, appeasement, perhaps money as a reward or sympathy.

For me, i would not have a person , male or female around me who had that type of ruthless attitude. I or my other male colleagues could be next.

Ok, time for all you self-righteous manipulating bitches to start howling about my comment. ;).

  2. Assault charges should be pending…oh..wait;

This is why women need to do self-defence courses, and stay away from ‘Corporate / Organisational Christmas & New Year’s Parties.

Last but certainly not least, it’s important to name these people who are behaving like this so that we in the population can avoid retaining them for legal counsel.
I would say that the same goes for Doctors, Accountants, and Real Estate personnel.
