The man responsible for a series of arson attacks in the South Auckland region during 2018 can now be named as Dylan Hart-Dehar.
Hart-Dehar was convicted of the arsons more than two years ago, but his named remained a secret until yesterday due to ongoing suppression applications brought initially by the New Zealand Fire Service, and his mother. Those applications were no longer being pursued. At the time he also faced charges of rape in relation to a 15 year old girl.
Hart-Dehar was sentenced to six years and three months imprisonment for the arson attacks and related crimes.
He was sentenced in April this year on the sexual violation charges to cumulative prison sentences.
