The Social Workers Registration Amendment Bill has been passed by parliament, reinforcing the professional oversight of social workers to enhance public safety.
The legislation introduces six policy changes and ten technical amendments aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Social Workers Registration Act.
Key measures include the mandatory registration of social workers with the Social Workers Registration Board, annual renewal of practicing certificates, and provisions for standing down workers accused of misconduct prior to formal investigations.
Minister for Social Development and Employment Louise Upston said the changes build a more transparent and professional workforce, aligning social work with regulated fields like health, teaching, and law.
A haven for lazy, no hopers (like most of govt in NZ)…..like this anaemic crap will fix anything……
Same goes for the MoE / MoH which work hand-in-hand to remove children from good parents who are targeted by the PTB.
Be VERY wary of having a Speech Language Therapist demanding access to your home under the guise of ‘offering SLT in the ‘home environment’.
We did that, only to discover under the OIA that the Speech Language Therapist was profiling us as bad parents, and she was after our child and our house!!! She also recorded our conversations without our knowledge.
NEVER deal with services offered by the MoE or the MoH for Special Needs children!
“Aligning social work with regulated fields like health, teaching, and law”?
A race to the bottom then.
They are slaves of government. Also known as essential workers from the Greek and Roman empires over 2000 years ago. Will Artificial Intelligence find clever robots to connect the dots and tell us there’s nothing new here?
