Telegram founder mocks Macron with provocative logo post

Pavel Durov mocks Macon with social media post

Telegram founder Pavel Durov has sparked online comment in unveiling a logo concept for his sperm donation initiative that appeared to mock French President Emmanuel Macron.

Durov, a Russian-born tech entrepreneur who holds French citizenship among others, shared a sketch on X showing the letters “pd” inside a circle, asking followers whether the design was “minimalist enough.” The reference appeared to play on his initials but quickly drew attention for another reason.

Social media users pointed out that “PD” is a highly offensive slur in French. Responding to the reaction, Durov posted a comment widely interpreted as a jab at Macron, linking the abbreviation to long-running online rumours about the French president’s private life.

“So it will be a non-gay project claiming it’s gay. Like France’s president – in reverse!” Durov wrote.

The remark also touched on claims surrounding First Lady Brigitte Macron’s gender identity, claims she has denied and challenged through legal action. A court ruling in one such case is expected early next year.

Durov’s comments come amid ongoing tensions with French authorities. Although granted French citizenship in 2021 under a special fast-track process, he was arrested in France in 2024 and placed under judicial supervision over allegations that Telegram failed to adequately address criminal activity on its platform. He was later released on €5 million bail and has repeatedly described the case as politically motivated and an attack on free speech.

The Telegram founder has also recently fueled controversy by suggesting it was “entirely possible” that France could be linked to the killing of US conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Separately, Durov has publicly discussed his sperm donation activities, revealing he began donating around 15 years ago and has fathered more than 100 children across multiple countries, in addition to six children with former partners.

  1. PD is short for “pederast” or more usual ” faggot” .
And kiwi have no idea how much the ordinary ” frogs” hate this devious , arrogant an shameless individual.

Good for you Durov much appreciated sense of humour

  2. Seems Airion – a not so obscure little town in France is run by the ‘ masters’ helpers. Brigitte Macron ( clearly a dude; think Big Mike ) has been placed as First Lady to mock Christianity. Just remember the Olympic Games last year. A scoffing of the Last Supper with genitals taking front stage. Truly a grotesque spectacle

  3. Well Macron did invite Parvel to France then promptly arrested him. Demanding a back door into Telegram messager. Held him for months claiming the Telegram Messager app allows underage porn and had no safeguards. Turns out it did have safeguards.

It is not natural for such a universally hated politician to be elected. The French people know it. The world knows it. This is where faith in our democratic system breaks down. Well more likely destroys itself.
