Tory Whanau withdraws from Wellington mayoralty re-election bid

Tory Whanau news

Wellington mayor Tory Whanau has announced she will not seek a second term, citing a desire to avoid a divisive Green vs Labour contest.

Instead, she will run for the council’s Māori Ward and support Green candidates.

Whanau’s withdrawal leaves the mayoral race open to candidates including Ray Chung, Rob Goulden, Kelvin Hastie, Karl Tiefenbacher, and Graham Bloxham.
