UK forces on alert after Iran threatens RAF base used in US strikes

British armed forces have been placed on heightened readiness after Iran warned that any foreign military base used to launch attacks against its territory, including RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, would be considered a legitimate target.

The warning followed reports that a US B-1 bomber flew from the base to strike targets linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, with Prime Minister Andy Burnham having authorised the use of British facilities for what were described as “defensive” US operations.

The UK Government responded by reaffirming that its military is fully prepared to defend the country and its allies, while additional Western fighter aircraft and support assets have been deployed to the region as President Donald Trump signalled further military action against Iran.

  1. You are complicit in a war of aggression, which under international law, makes you a legitimate target. Iran is doing what Russia should have done, a long time ago. Nation of real men. Lots of respect.

But do we hear any analysis/forecasts from the muppets in the waspnest, treasury, OIO, etc.?
It’s BS blah blah baa baa instead of informing the Godzone People in order to prepare for what will be the biggest event in NZ history.
Globy, SOR, Tommy, Zaggy, …u know what i’m talking about.

  3. An attack on a UK base is an attack on NATO. That’s a considerable escalation. Does Iran really want that?

NATO involvement effectively means a step towards WW3.

NZ is not a member of NATO. We are an associate. Meaning military cooperation, intelligence, energy, trade, tech.

New Zealand needs to invest into industries that make these islands self-sufficient. We can’t afford them, but we can afford to go into 51% partnership. Perhaps a Lease type arrangement.

    • NATO is being stomped into the ground by one country, Russia. Its a paper tiger, there is no unity of opinion, objectives, equipment is complex and difficult to service, munitions are depleted and the money side of things is looking piss poor too. Also there’s an absence of sizable military’s, the biggest in the West is Italy and its a flea bite compared to Iran’s military.

  4. US lapdogs. Same as Luxon, Seymour and Peters.

Why NZ still allies itself with the US, after the last 25 years of BS excuses for invading and blowing up countries is beyond me.

    5 eyes insanity

    • As you know its a war of aggression. The US wants control of the strait and any resources Iran might have. Plus controlling Iran again, gives them huge geo-political leverage in the Middle East. It also satisfies Israel’s concern over Iran developing nuclear weapons. Ironically, it was the West who started Iran down the nuclear path when their puppet Shah was in office.
