US and Iranian officials have held their highest-level talks in decades in Islamabad, marking a rare diplomatic breakthrough aimed at ending a six-week war, though deep divisions remain—particularly over control and access to the Strait of Hormuz.
While US President Donald Trump said military operations had begun to clear the strait for international shipping, Iran disputed American claims of naval transit and continues to demand control of the waterway, war reparations, and broader regional ceasefire terms.
“We’re now starting the process of clearing out the Strait of Hormuz as a favour to Countries all over the World,” said US President Donald Trump. A Pakistanis source told media, “There were mood swings from the two sides and the temperature went up and down during the meeting.”
The negotiations, held during a fragile two-week ceasefire, have been marked by tension and mutual distrust, with both sides presenting conflicting accounts over key issues such as frozen Iranian assets.
Despite this, limited signs of progress emerged as some oil tankers resumed passage.

U.S. bases, and troops in the area need to leave, and they also need to leave Europe and continental Asia, go home, protect your own sovereignty, territory, and use the monetary savings of maintaining overseas bases to rebuild the infrastructure and endeavour to get the massive amounts of homeless off of the streets, 45% of whom are VETERANS FROM THE U.S.’s NUMEROUS WARS OVER THE LAST 60+ YEARS!
