Switzerland has confirmed that planned talks involving the United States, Iran, Qatar and Pakistan have been postponed, amid reports that US Vice President JD Vance has cancelled a scheduled visit to Switzerland for the next round of negotiations with Tehran.
In a statement, Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry said preparations at Bürgenstock would continue despite the delay and reiterated its willingness to host and facilitate future discussions.
“The planned talks between the US, Iran, Qatar and Pakistan have been postponed. Switzerland remains ready to facilitate these talks,” the ministry said.
The postponement comes as Iran’s chief negotiator issued a warning that the United States would face an “even harder slap” if it failed to honour the terms of a potential agreement currently under discussion. No further details have been provided regarding the reasons for the postponement or when the talks may be rescheduled.
