‘Manchester United a Disconnected Team, Making Basic Errors’

0

Since the departure of their legendary manager Alex Ferguson eight years ago, the once dominant Man United have struggled to win silverware.

The Red Devils last won a Premier League title in 2013 and haven’t claimed a Champions League crown for more than a decade. United’s quest to end their trophy drought suffered another setback on Saturday.

Former Manchester United Defender Gary Neville has ripped into his former team as he was furious to see the English giants lose against Leicester City 4-2 in a Premier League game over the weekend.

It was United’s third Premier League match in succession where they failed to win as it came after a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa and a 1-1 draw against Everton.

Neville even accused United’s footballers of having egos as they failed to click as a unit before labelling them “babies” for behaving like immature kids.

The former England right-back even declared that United players’ lack the intensity and the work ethics of Liverpool and Manchester City footballers, who he claimed “work like dogs” to accomplish the desired success.

“United were appalling all the way through”, Neville said on Sky Sports.

“In the second half there was a massive, massive change – Leicester looked like they could score with every single attack”.

The 46-year-old said that there was a clear division within Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, with the attacking line featuring all the great players with big egos, and the back five, having all the youngsters, who are still trying to make their mark on the grand stage.

“United are just baggy, there’s space everywhere and they’re a pretty awful team to watch when they’re baggy. They must think they’re better than they are. You end up with two teams: the front five, the egos, the great players, and the back five”, he added.

“You’ve got individual errors, but also a disconnected team. This United team are also really poor in reacting to goals. They’re like babies. If they score, they puff their chests out. Really basic errors”.

Man U disordered attack news

According to him, United is looking like a disconnected team at the moment and its players are making basic errors on the field.

Neville also believes that the club’s players were not working hard enough to win trophies, like other teams.

In a way, the situation is becoming extremely difficult for Solskjaer, considering he has so far been unable to get the best out of his players.

“City and Liverpool’s players work like dogs, and they’re the best players in the world. Why is it that we accept United’s players won’t work as hard as them? Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] has to get the best out of them. If he doesn’t, he’s going to have a massive problem at the end of the season”, Neville continued.

“What Ole has to somehow prove is that he can get top players to work hard. United’s forward players are not organised, they need to put a shift in”, he concluded.

After hogging all the limelight for their acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus in August, which resulted in an impressive start for the Old Trafford-based team, United has subsequently lost the plot in the past month and a half.

After their latest defeat, they are now languishing in sixth place in the Premier League standings with 14 points and are five points behind table toppers Chelsea who have 19 points.

The ceremonies were considerably reduced this year, as Greek authorities cancelled the traditional six-day torch relay across Greece, and banned spectators from other events due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Greece has handed over the Olympic torch to organisers of the 2022 Beijing Winter Games. The sacred flame is expected to arrive in China on Wednesday.

China will be hosting the games from 4 to 20 February.

Roma Boss Jose Mourinho Blasts Juventus After Ugly Spat Erupts Between Players of Serie A Teams

0

Juventus and Roma have shared a bitter rivalry since the 1980s, when the Rome-based team were denied the Serie A title due to a howler by a referee.

Evidence of the dislike between the two sides can be gauged from the fact that during the 1990s, then-Roma coach Zdenek Zeman accused the players of the Old Lady of doping.

Roma boss Jose Mourinho was furious after his team suffered a controversial defeat at the hands of fierce rivals Juventus in a Serie A game on Sunday.

Not only did the referee’s mistake result in Juventus’ 1-0 win over Mourinho’s side, it also led to an ugly spat between the players of the two teams in the tunnel.

“All the words we heard from Juventus in the tunnel and the locker room, I hope they say it in public too”, Mourinho said about the confrontation in his post-match press conference.

“They know how much they struggled against us. I won here many years ago without playing so well, today we lost when playing very well”, the former Manchester United manager added.

Although Juve took an early lead in the game, thanks to Moise Kean’s 16th minute strike, Roma players celebrated minutes later in the first half when Tammy Abraham netted the ball inside their opponents’ goal post.

However, their celebrations were short lived, as the referee blew his whistle and instead of recognising the goal, he offered them a penalty which Mourinho’s men eventually missed.

In the end, the Bianconeri managed to keep the Roma attacking line at bay before completing a controversial 1-0 victory.

Juventus’ win not only angered Mourinho and his team, but as the Portuguese revealed in his media briefing, words were exchanged between the footballers of the two sides in the tunnel and dressing rooms.

But the one consolation Mourinho has is that despite the loss, Roma are still ahead of Juventus in the Serie A standings. While Mourinho’s side is on the fourth position in the charts with 15 points, Juve are seventh with 14 points.

French Forward Kylian Mbappe’s Latest Message Triggers Speculation About His Future With PSG

0

Kylian Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid as the Spanish club’s president Florentino Perez is eyeing to sign another charismatic forward after Cristiano Ronaldo.

But the La Liga team’s attempts to sign him during the summer didn’t succeed, as PSG sporting director Leonardo Nascimento de Araujo rejected all their offers.

As the saga over Kylian Mbappe’s transfer continues, the French star’s every word and move are being analysed and assessed by the media.

The 22-year-old posted a message on Instagram on Sunday, which immediately went viral on the social media platform, receiving 2,280,671 likes in just 24 hours.

Mbappe PSG speculation news

“Always hungry for more. Thanks, PSG”, he wrote.

However, what caught everyone’s attention was Mbappe’s smile in the photo, in which he posed with PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

By thanking PSG, Mbappe once again ignited the debate about his future with the Parisians, as many Instagrammers thought he had hinted at remaining with the Ligue 1 table toppers.

While Mbappe rejected PSG’s last contract offer, the Paris-based team is working on a plan to secure his stay at the Parc des Princes, with Al-Khelaifi holding firm in his desire to keep him in the French capital.

Even though speculation over his future has hogged all the headlines in recent days, Mbappe has been in great form both for France and PSG.

Not only did he lead the country to UEFA Nations League glory earlier this month, but he also ensured PSG’s ascension to the numero uno spot in the French league.

On Friday, Mbappe played a leading role in PSG’s 2-1 triumph over Angers, eventually winning the Most Valuable Player award for his 87th minute strike in the game.

Fans Mock Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli for His ‘Meaningful Diwali’ Campaign

0

This is not the first time that Virat Kohli has been trolled by netizens for his messages about celebrations.

Last year, his public appeal not to set off firecrackers on Diwali evoked massive backlash on social media. Most Indians enjoy seting off fireworks. Any celeb opposing it for pollution concerns is usually targeted as “anti-Hindu”.

Virat Kohli Diwali message mocked news

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli’s Diwali campaign has sparked severe criticism on Twitter after the star batsman said that he will come up with personal tips to celebrate the festival of lights in a more “meaningful” way.

However, a number of people were not pleased with the 32-year-old’s message, as they suppose that Kohli, just like last year, may make an appeal against firecrackers, a popular way of celebrating the festival after performing evening prayers.

The Delhi government has banned the usage of firecrackers during Diwali and even the Supreme Court has upheld the ban, considering the nation’s capital generally witnesses an alarming rise in pollution levels after this festival.

But most people are generally found doing it anyway, as part of a tradition.

Fearing that Kohli may mention “environmental concerns” this year too by talking of firecrackers and the pollution caused by them, social media users have already started criticising him for being so concerned about a grand Hindu festivity and popular tradition.

A few netizens asked him to first worry about the environment when personally using air conditioners and cars before launching a “meaningful Diwali campaign”.

Some others advised him to focus on winning the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in the Middle East.

For them, it is a sign of Kohli’s “double standards” as he talks about saving the environment on one hand, while contributing to its degradation on the other.

Virat Kohli’s next assignment with the Men in Blue is the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman from 19 October to 14 November.

The T20 World Cup is the top tournament of cricket’s shortest format. The sport has three formats – Test matches, which last five days, One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and T20s (games of 20-overs per side).

Earlier, Kohli had announced that he would no longer be the captain of India’s T20 side after the prestigious tournament. But he will be hoping to end the country’s 14-year drought at the event in the next three weeks.

India last won the competition in South Africa in 2007 under the leadership of the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Top 10% of richest Americans own about 90% of stocks on US Markets – Report

0

The stock market, which has roughly doubled since its March 2020 low and is up almost 40% since January 2020, reportedly has been the primary source of wealth creation and inequality in the US during the pandemic.

The richest 10% of Americans now own 89% of all stocks in the country, thus marking a new milestone that underlines the stock market’s role in widening wealth gaps, CNBC reported on Monday, citing new data from the US Federal Reserve.

According to the report, the richest 1% gained more than $6.5 trillion in corporate equities and mutual fund wealth during the COVID-19 pandemic, while the poorest 90% gained $1.2 trillion.

10% of Americans own 90% of stocks news

In the second quarter this year, the wealthiest 10% of Americans reportedly owned a record amount of corporate equities and mutual funds, while the lowest 90% of Americans owned only around 11% of stocks, down from 12% before the pandemic.

The figures reportedly reveal that the top 1%’s total wealth has reached a new high of 32%. Stocks accounted for about 70% of their wealth growth over the past year and a half, making it one of the quickest asset booms in recent history.

Despite millions of new investors entering the stock market over the past months, for the first time since the start of the outbreak, the concentration of wealth is expanding, leading to what many experts and media outlets have dubbed “the democratization” of stocks.

Interestingly, over the past two years, Robinhood, a company providing commission-free trading via an app, has added more than 10 million new accounts, per the firm’s Q2 results report, bringing the total number of accounts to over 22 million, many of which are owned by younger, first-time investors.

Despite the fact that the market is increasingly widely owned by many more investors, the gains and income it generates are not equally distributed.

While the influx of new investors is rather large, according to Rosenthal, they are still minor, with the average account size at Robinhood reportedly being around $4,500. When the stock market rises, they will see significantly lower dollar returns than wealthy investors with stock portfolios worth hundreds of thousands or perhaps millions of dollars.

“Many of the younger investors also bought in at higher prices, compared to bigger investors who have been in the market for years and see larger gains,” Rosenthal explained.

In addition, many of those new investors reportedly have a trading mentality, buying and selling stocks quickly and with leverage in the hopes of making quick profits. While such a technique has the potential to produce big winners, it may also lead to lesser returns than investors who just purchase and hold for the long term.

Overall, the value of the top 10%’s stocks reportedly increased by 43% between January 2020 and June 2021. The bottom 90% of the population saw their stock wealth rise at a slower rate of 33%.

“They might account for a larger share of trading activity, but that’s different from ownership and wealth,” Rosenthal concluded.

First bitcoin futures ETF ready to debut on Wall Street

0

A bitcoin-linked exchange-traded fund (ETF) will officially be listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Tuesday under the ticker ‘BITO’, ProShares fund has announced.

This comes as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) greenlighted bitcoin futures ETFs on Friday.

“We believe a multitude of investors have been eagerly awaiting the launch of a bitcoin-linked ETF after years of efforts to launch one,” said ProShares CEO Michael L. Sapir.

“BITO will open up exposure to bitcoin to a large segment of investors who have a brokerage account and are comfortable buying stocks and ETFs, but do not desire to go through the hassle and learning curve of establishing another account with a cryptocurrency provider… or are concerned that these providers may be unregulated and subject to security risks,” said Sapir.

ProShares filed for its Bitcoin Strategy ETF this past summer. There are four bitcoin futures ETFs scheduled for review in October, from ProShares, Valkyrie, Invesco and Van Eck. They will be allowed to list 75 days after their paperwork was filed if the SEC doesn’t intervene within that period.

Investing in a futures-based ETF is not the same thing as investing directly in bitcoin. A futures contract is an agreement to buy or sell an asset at a future date at an agreed-upon price. A futures-based ETF tracks cash-settled futures contracts, and not the price of the asset itself.

“This will be probably the biggest endorsement from the SEC for crypto,” Ian Balina, CEO of the data and analytics firm Token Metrics, was quoted as saying by CNBC. “This will be a floodgate of new capital and new people into the space.”

News of the long-awaited approval for a bitcoin-related ETF sent the world’s top crypto by market value to levels not seen since April. The price of bitcoin surged over $62,000 per coin as of 2:25pm GMT.
