Watch: Dig in at Marsden Update – 18 May 2022

Dig In At Marsden update 18 May 2022 news

Dig in at Marsden protest leader Brad Flutey updates the situation for 18 May 2022.

‘Mobil trying to secure the Wiri pipeline and other assets – more monopolisation of key infrastructure assets.’

‘AMPOL are already monopolising the refineries in the area.’

‘What we need is abundance and diversity of options – the Marsden Refinery gave that to us – it just needed to be improved. The bitumen plant has been shut down for 18 months, and all we’re getting is more monopolisation.’

‘We’re down with the Three Waters Group – we don’t want our water infrastructure assets that ratepayers have paid for to be stolen either. We don’t want our private titles to be turned into ‘SNAs’, and we don’t want our use rights on our land stolen either.’

‘We need to draw a connection between the rise in fuel prices and the drop in fuel quality, through this refinery [ie. Marsden Point] losing it’s refinery capabilities.’
