New Zealand have lost 0-2 to Finland in their opening FIFA Series match at Eden Park, with the visitors capitalising on defensive mistakes to score in each half in front of 17,603 fans.
Joel Pohjanpalo opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a header from a corner, while Jaakko Oksanen sealed the result late after a counterattack caught the All Whites defence out.
Despite chances from Tim Payne and an energetic second-half showing led by Jesse Randall, New Zealand were unable to find a breakthrough, and will now look to regroup ahead of their next match against Chile.
