Arsenal strengthened their grip on the top of the Premier League table with a controlled win over Sunderland, powered by a late double from Viktor Gyokeres.
Sunderland threatened in spells, with Brian Brobbey troubling Arsenal’s defence and forcing a goal-line clearance from Kai Havertz after a David Raya error.
Arsenal created further chances through Declan Rice and Havertz before substitute Gyokeres struck in the 66th minute following a Havertz assist, then sealed the result in stoppage time by finishing into an open net after Gabriel Martinelli squared the ball.
The result at Emirates extends Arsenal’s lead to nine points, increasing pressure on their title challengers.
