Auckland FC crowned Premier’s Plate champions with historic win at Mount Smart

Auckland FC capped a stellar inaugural season by beating Perth Glory 1-0 at Go Media Stadium, lifting the Premier’s Plate for the first time in A-League Men’s history.

Marlee Francois scored the decisive goal from a corner, delighting the 24,221-strong home crowd.

Despite already securing the title after Melbourne City’s draw, Auckland dominated the match, registering 27 shots and showcasing their league-best form.

Goalkeeper Oli Sail starred for Perth but couldn’t prevent Auckland’s triumph, while Auckland keeper Alex Paulsen remained largely untested.

Auckland now shift focus to the play-offs.
