Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich humiliated pummelled Auckland City with a 10-0 demolition in Cincinnati, marking the largest victory in Club World Cup history.
Kingsley Coman opened the scoring in the sixth minute as Bayern’s dominance became quickly apparent. Jamal Musiala netted a second-half hat-trick, while Thomas Muller scored twice in what is expected to be his final tournament with the club. Despite brave goalkeeping by Conor Tracey, Auckland, made up of semi-professionals, were outclassed from start to finish.
The lopsided result comes amid growing criticism of the expanded 32-team Club World Cup format.
