Newcastle United secured a 2–0 Champions League win over Athletic Club Madrid thanks to first-half and second-half headers from Dan Burn and Joelinton.
Burn opened the scoring with a powerful set-piece finish from Kieran Trippier’s free kick, while Joelinton sealed the result after good work by Harvey Barnes.
Despite injuries and pressure from Athletic, including a close effort from Adama Boiro, Newcastle held firm through goalkeeper Nick Pope’s saves to claim a third straight European victory—their best run since 2007—and move above Real Madrid in the standings.
