Carrington and Hoskin secure NZ’s seventh Olympic gold with dominant K2 victory

Dame Lisa Carrington secured her seventh Olympic gold medal in the women’s kayak doubles alongside Alicia Hoskin, delivering a commanding performance at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.

Their victory was marked by an impressive margin of more than a boat length in windy and choppy conditions.

If Carrington wins gold in the K1 event, she will tie with Germany’s Birgit Fischer as the most successful Olympic kayaker with eight gold medals. Carrington will face fellow New Zealander Aimee Fisher in what promises to be an exciting final showdown.
