Chelsea thrash West Ham 1-5

Chelsea stormed to their first win of the season with a 1-5 demolition of West Ham at the London Stadium, despite losing Cole Palmer to injury in the warm-up and conceding an early stunner from Lucas Paqueta.

Teenager Estevao Willian recovered from a nervy start to set up Enzo Fernandez after Joao Pedro’s equaliser, while Pedro Neto, Moises Caicedo, and Trevoh Chalobah also found the net in a dominant display.

VAR denied the hosts a second goal before Chelsea’s superiority told, as two errors from debut goalkeeper Mads Hermansen compounded West Ham’s misery.

The result left Graham Potter’s side winless at home in six matches and facing boos from fans after consecutive heavy defeats.
