Vikas Negi, a 34-year-old cricketer playing for Mavericks XI in India, tragically died from a heart attack during a match today against Blazing Bulls.
According to a report in the UK Mirror, the incident occurred while Negi was batting. After congratulating his teammate Umesh Kumar for scoring, Negi suddenly collapsed. Players from both teams rushed to his aid, attempting CPR, but unfortunately, Negi was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
At the time of his collapse, Negi had scored 7 runs off 6 balls. The game was part of the S&B India Annual Cricket Tournament and was broadcasted live on YouTube. The game was abandoned following Negi’s death.
Danish women’s football star Rikke Sevecke to retire at 27
Meanwhile, Rikke Sevecke, a 27-year-old former Everton defender and Denmark international, has been forced to retire from professional football due to a heart condition.
Sevecke, who has also played for the American club Portland Thorns, revealed in a social media post that recent medical tests confirmed she had a heart condition which will end her football career. She expressed sadness over not being able to represent her country in future competitions. She represented Denmark in last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
