Shocking scenes in Qatar as French footballer Andy Delort collapses and convulses during play.
In the Qatar Stars Cup final, Umm-Salal’s French striker Delort collapsed and convulsed on the field in the 16th minute of play against Al Arabi.
The incident happened ten minutes after Delort had scored a goal for his team.
In footage shared widely online, he appeared dazed before collapsing, causing alarm among those present.
Medical services at the stadium responded quickly to treat him.
Despite the incident the match continued, ending in a 4-4 draw and Umm-Salal winning 5-4 on penalties.
Delort, who has scored five goals and provided four assists in 12 appearances for Umm-Salal since joining from Nantes, was later seen on the bench in the second half. Initial concerns for his health have eased and he is reported to be out of immediate danger.
The cause of his collapse, whether medical, cardiac-related, or due to dehydration, is still unclear.
