A sixth Wellington Phoenix player has been called up to the Football Ferns for their upcoming trip to Colombia.
Young winger Manaia Elliott has been added to the New Zealand squad for their two matches against Colombia in Bogotá.
She joins Michaela Foster, Kate Taylor, Mackenzie Barry, Brianna Edwards and fellow Phoenix academy graduate Macey Fraser in the Ferns squad which will travel to South America after Saturday’s match against Perth Glory at Go Media Stadium Mt Smart.
Elliott, 18, has featured in all five of the Phoenix women’s matches to start the 2023-24 Liberty A-League and scored her maiden goal in the team’s second round win over Western Sydney Wanderers.
She captained New Zealand at last year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup and was a key part of the Junior Football Ferns squad that qualified for next year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup.
