Bruno Fernandes scored a hat-trick as Manchester United recovered from an early setback to claim a convincing 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town.
The visitors went ahead through Leif Davis after impressive work from Abdul Fatawu, but United responded when Matheus Cunha set up Fernandes for the equaliser.
A Jacob Greaves own goal then put the hosts ahead before Fernandes converted a penalty after Greaves brought down Cunha. The United captain completed his treble after Ipswich blocked attempts from Kobbie Mainoo and Bryan Mbeumo, before Mbeumo added a fifth when his shot struck the crossbar and bounced over the line.
Chuba Akpom scored a late consolation for Ipswich, but United had already secured a comfortable win inspired by Fernandes’ three-goal performance.
