Coco Gauff captured her maiden French Open singles title and second career Grand Slam by defeating world number one Aryna Sabalenka 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 6-4 in a dramatic, wind-affected final.
After a shaky start and trailing by a double break, the 21-year-old American rebounded with composure, capitalising on Sabalenka’s errors to seal victory.
The tense three-set battle saw 12 service breaks before Gauff held firm in the decider, clinching the win on her second match point. Her victory adds to her 2023 US Open title, also won against Sabalenka.
