Luca Harrington delivered a clutch final run to win bronze in the men’s freestyle skiing slopestyle at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, earning New Zealand its second medal of the Games.
After struggling with his triple cork 1620 through the first two runs and sitting ninth before the final attempt, the 21-year-old landed a clean third run, scoring 85.15 to secure third place behind Norway’s Birk Ruud (gold) and American Alex Hall (silver).
Fellow Kiwi Ben Barclay showed early promise but mistakes in later runs saw him finish eighth overall, with Harrington describing the competition as a tough battle across the field.
