In sweltering Mumbai conditions, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell and Will Young toughed out half-centuries, reaching 235 despite Ravindra Jadeja’s impressive five-wicket haul (5-65) and Washington Sundar’s 4-81.
Mitchell top-scored with 82, while Young’s 71 gave the visitors a solid start before India’s spinners took control.

By stumps, Shubman Gill (31*) and Rishabh Pant (1*) were at the crease with India at 86-4, as New Zealand looked to press their advantage in the third test.
