Kiwi driver Liam Lawson’s strong qualifying position dissolved quickly at the Las Vegas Grand Prix after he entered the first turn too hot and collided with Oscar Piastri, damaging his Racing Bulls car and forcing an early pit stop that left him unable to recover, eventually finishing 16th.
Max Verstappen cruised to victory ahead of Lando Norris, who extended his championship lead to 30 points, with George Russell completing the podium.
Piastri ended up fourth after Kimi Antonelli’s penalty, while Norris can now wrap up his first world title in Qatar next weekend as McLaren celebrates its second straight constructors’ crown.
