Maddi Wesche secured New Zealand’s first track and field medal at the Paris Olympics, winning silver in a dramatic women’s shot put final at Stade de France.
Wesche’s impressive personal best throw of 19.86m briefly put her in the gold medal position before Germany’s Yemisi Ogunleye clinched the top spot with a stunning final throw of 20m.
China’s Jiayuan Song took bronze.
