Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new contract keeping him at Old Trafford until 2031, ending speculation over his future after a turbulent season.
The 21-year-old academy graduate had considered a January loan move to Napoli after limited opportunities under former manager Ruben Amorim, but the club rejected the request and reaffirmed its faith in him.
Since interim boss Michael Carrick took charge, Mainoo has become a regular starter and also regained his place in the England national football team squad.
Mainoo said Manchester United “means everything” to his family and vowed to help the club compete for major trophies, while football director Jason Wilcox described him as one of the world’s most naturally gifted young players.
