Manchester City close gap on Arsenal

Manchester City moved within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal after a hard-fought 0-1 away win at Leeds United, with Antoine Semenyo’s first-half stoppage-time strike sealing their fifth victory in six league games.

Pep Guardiola’s side sit on 59 points, just behind Arsenal on 61, with both having played 28 matches ahead of their looming March 22 showdown. Liverpool strengthened their push for European qualification with a chaotic 5-2 win over West Ham at Anfield, pulling level on points with fourth-placed Manchester United.

Elsewhere, Brentford edged Burnley 4-3 in a VAR-marred thriller, Everton claimed a dramatic 3-2 win over Newcastle to climb to eighth, and Sunderland ended a three-game losing streak with a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth as the battle for both the title and European places heats up.
