Auckland FC striker Max Mata has returned to Shrewsbury Town following the end of his loan, after making 19 appearances, scoring twice, and assisting three goals for the Black Knights.
A key figure in the club’s historic A-League Plate win, Mata became a fan favourite and integral part of the squad before a hamstring injury ended his season prematurely.
Reflecting on his time at the club, the Auckland-born forward said, “It has been an incredible year in Auckland, one I’ll never forget.”
Head coach Steve Corica praised Mata’s contribution, calling him “a great character” and wishing him success in his return to Shrewsbury.
