Damian McKenzie came off the bench to deliver a stunning final-quarter performance as the All Blacks defeated Scotland 25–17 at Murrayfield, extending the hosts’ winless streak to 33 games against New Zealand.
Despite playing half an hour with 14 men after three sin-binnings, the visitors survived a fierce Scottish comeback that erased a 17-point halftime lead.
McKenzie’s pinpoint 50:22 kick, acrobatic corner try with seven minutes remaining, and a 48-metre penalty in the dying moments sealed victory after Scotland’s spirited surge, which included tries from Ewan Ashman and Kyle Steyn.
The result keeps New Zealand’s Grand Slam hopes alive ahead of their clash with England.
