One New Zealand Warriors winger Marcelo Montoya is leaving the club after being granted a release from the final year of his contract to return to Australia and secure a long-term NRL opportunity.
The 28-year-old former Fiji Bati international, who joined the Warriors in 2021, made significant contributions on and off the field during his four seasons with the team.
Warriors general manager Andrew McFadden praised Montoya’s impact, saying, “He has been a terrific person to have at our club, and we wish him and his wife Tayla all the best for their future.”
Montoya, who previously played for Canterbury Bankstown, scored 30 tries in 82 appearances for the Warriors, including playing all 27 games in the 2023 season.
