Auckland FC climbed to the top of the A-League with a dramatic last-minute victory over Western Sydney Wanderers, courtesy of a 95th-minute goal from substitute Neyder Moreno, his fourth of the season.
The tightly contested match saw both teams create numerous chances, with standout performances from Auckland’s goalkeeper Alex Paulsen and the Wanderers’ Lawrence Thomas keeping the game scoreless until the dying moments.
Returning captain Hiroki Sakai anchored the Black Knights’ defense, while Jake Brimmer and Felipe Gallegos added energy in a dynamic second half.
Despite near-misses from Guillermo May and Logan Rogerson, Moreno’s late heroics ensured Auckland FC left Sydney victorious, reaffirming their reputation for clutch performances.
