Following the NZ Warriors’ impressive 4-34 victory over the South Sydney Rabbitohs, coach Andrew Webster believes hooker Wayde Egan is deserving of a State of Origin call-up in 2024.
Egan, 27, showcased his skills with two-line break assists and seven dummy half runs, contributing in a big way to the team’s six tries while also leading in tackles.
Hailing from Lithgow, Australia, Egan qualifies to represent New South Wales in State of Origin. With New South Wales seeking to reclaim the series after two consecutive years on the losing end in the series, Webster sees Egan as a key player who could help turn the tide.
Speaking recently to media teammate and captain Tohu Harris echoed Webster’s sentiments, noting Egan’s calm demeanour and impeccable decision-making.
Egan’s impact on the Warriors’ success in 2024 is undeniable, with the team’s only two defeats occurring when he was sidelined due to injury. Egan has 83 games under his belt for the Warriors and a contract until 2025.
