New Zealand’s women’s pursuit cycling team, consisting of Ally Wollaston, Bryony Botha, Emily Shearman, and Nicole Shields, claimed a silver medal in the 4000m final at the Paris Olympics.
The achievement marks New Zealand’s first Olympic medal in the discipline.
The team, who had the fastest qualifying time, faced the United States in the final at the French national velodrome in Versailles, where they were defeated by a narrow margin of 0.621 seconds. Despite an early lead by the US team, the New Zealanders managed to close the gap significantly in the last 1000m but ultimately couldn’t surpass their rivals.
The achievement follows a silver medal won by New Zealand’s sprint team earlier in the competition.
Don’t care. I’m not watching woke satanic garbage. Paris can collapse into a sinkhole 👎
