The PGA Tour has ruled out any immediate pathway back for LIV Golf’s leading players as the breakaway competition navigates bankruptcy protection and attempts to establish a replacement circuit for next year.
Major champions Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith now face uncertainty, with PGA Tour chief Brian Rolapp stressing that players must earn membership under existing rules rather than receive special treatment similar to the arrangement previously offered to Brooks Koepka.
One possible route could be through the DP World Tour, although negotiations over how many players will qualify for the PGA Tour under its planned 2028 Championship and Challenger structure remain unresolved.
Rory McIlroy said he was unconcerned by the lack of a final agreement but questioned the value of DP World Tour players progressing only to the lower Challenger level, arguing that access to the elite Championship Series should remain the principal objective.
