Wellington Phoenix snapped a seven-match winless run with a 2-0 victory over Perth Glory FC at HNRY Stadium, climbing off the bottom of the A-League Men table and into ninth place.
After a first half without a shot on target, Wellington broke through 10 minutes after the restart when Corban Piper headed in from a corner delivered by Ramy Najjarine, continuing the club’s strong record from set-pieces this season.
The hosts sealed the result late when former Phoenix midfielder Nicholas Pennington turned the ball into his own net under pressure, securing a much-needed win that leaves Perth in 11th place.
