Emma Raducanu cruised into the US Open third round with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win over Indonesian qualifier Janice Tjen in just one hour, showcasing strong serving and relentless baseline play.
The 2021 champion, ranked 34th, briefly appeared troubled by a back niggle but maintained control throughout, hitting eight aces and winning 76% of first-serve points.
Tjen, making her main tour debut after upsetting 24th seed Veronika Kudermetova, was unable to impose her variety against Raducanu’s depth and power.
With her serve improving under new coach Francisco Roig, Raducanu now awaits a potential third-round clash with Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
