Scotland end 26-year wait for World Cup spot

Scotland booked their first FIFA World Cup finals spot since 1998 with a wild 4-2 win over Denmark at Hampden Park, sealed by stoppage-time goals from Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean after the visitors twice fought back and went down to 10 men.

Scott McTominay and Lawrence Shankland also scored in a match that shook Group C, while elsewhere Spain, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland confirmed qualification, joining a 12-nation list already through as 16 more European teams head into play-offs for the final four places.
