Ten-man Phoenix stun Brisbane with clinical 0–3 victory

Wellington Phoenix delivered a ruthless performance to beat Brisbane Roar 0–3 at a sold-out Kayo Stadium in Queensland, despite playing most of the match with ten men after Carlo Armiento was sent off late in the first half.

Star striker Ifeanyi Eze set the tone early with a goal inside six minutes and later powered a long run that led to Kasuki Nagasawa’s stunning long-range strike just before the hour.

Brisbane applied sustained pressure after the red card and into the second half but were unable to break through, before being caught on the counter in stoppage time when Luke Brooke-Smith set up Paolo Retre to seal the result.

The win delivered Wellington their first clean sheet since January 2025, ending a 22-match drought, while Brisbane now turn their attention to a tough clash with Auckland FC.
