Tennis star embraces hostile crowd at Australian Open

American tennis star Danielle Collins turned boos into motivation during her second-round victory over Australia’s Destanee Aiava at the Australian Open, thanking heckling fans for “paying her bills.”

The 10th seed, who overcame the world number 195 in a thrilling 7-6 4-6 6-2 match, said she loved the challenging atmosphere at Kia Arena and viewed it as a reminder of her professional success.

Collins, 31, noted that her earnings from the tournament, including AU$290,000 for reaching the third round, would fund a luxurious vacation with friends.
