West Ham United’s 14-year run in the Premier League has ended after relegation was confirmed on the final day of the season, despite a comfortable 3-0 home win over Leeds United.
The Hammers needed both a victory and a Tottenham defeat to survive, but Spurs’ result against Everton ultimately sealed their fate. After a sluggish first half in difficult conditions, West Ham broke through when Taty Castellanos headed home from a Jarrod Bowen corner before Bowen himself added a second with a composed finish.
Substitute Callum Wilson scored late to complete the win, but with Tottenham holding on elsewhere, West Ham were condemned to the Championship for the first time since 2012, while Leeds closed the season in 14th place after their nine-match unbeaten streak came to an end.
