Newcastle United have had a £50m offer for Norway international Jorgen Strand Larsen turned down by Wolves, who insist the forward is not for sale after his £23m permanent move following a 14-goal loan season.
Eddie Howe’s side, desperate for a new striker after Callum Wilson’s departure, have also failed with two bids for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, leaving them in a race against time before the transfer window closes.
Wolves boss Vitor Pereira stressed Larsen’s importance to the team, while Newcastle continue to juggle uncertainty over Alexander Isak’s future as Liverpool circle.
