Fortnite has been reinstated on the U.S. Apple App Store nearly five years after its removal in August 2020 for violating Apple’s policies by implementing its own in-app payment system to bypass the company’s 30% commission.
The removal led to a lengthy legal battle between developer Epic Games and Apple, with Epic accusing Apple of monopolistic practices.
The game is now also available through the Epic Games Store and AltStore in the European Union, following regulatory changes.
Google had similarly removed Fortnite in 2020 but lifted its ban last year. Fortnite remains one of the world’s most popular games, with approximately 400 million registered players.
