A 69-year-old Australian passenger, Stephanie Bank, caused a major disruption on a Fiji Airways flight from San Francisco to Nadi, Fiji, leading to her being restrained and her mouth taped by flight attendants.
Bank, reportedly intoxicated, verbally abused crew members, made racist remarks, and used excessive profanity, prompting complaints from other passengers.
The disturbance escalated after crew members declined to disclose her husband’s location on the plane, leading to threats, physical resistance, and the throwing of items.
Upon landing, Bank was arrested, fined FJ$500 ($392), and barred from leaving the country until the fine was paid.
